Raised in the sprawl of San Jose, CA, Jason came of age during a time when the holy trinity of skateboarding, punk rock and DIY art was still a dangerous combination. Long before the slow air conditioned death that was mall culture sank its fangs in. They made for the type of collision that seemed to be doing more damage to, than good for a kid, but they ensnared Jason early on, and even made a life for him. Becoming a professional skateboarder at the age of 17 ensured his exposure to the underbelly would be unlimited. His regular regalia, entailing the likes of pink hair, argyle sweaters and creepers during a time of massive baggy pants and corn rows ensured that even amongst the underbelly dwellers, Jason would be noticed. His fluid but aggressive style, use of unusual obstacles, and deep bag of decades spanning tricks gave them something to talk about, and 30 years later Jason is still a stand-out in the professional skateboarding world. As his style on a board evolved, becoming more noteworthy over the years, Jason was given more platforms on which to stand/skate and be noticed. He took the opportunity to begin unleashing his growing interest and talent in art upon the rolling masses. The hand-made aesthetic comprised of spray cans, stencils and bold lines that had run like a river through his childhood diet of skateboarding and punk were evident as Jason began creating images that were both intricately layered and immediately impactful upon the eye. Portraits of anti-heroes and scenes of beautiful decay abounded, focusing on by-gone eras and rusting ethics still in place amongst only the truly die hard (of which Jason is one). Skateboarding took note, and Jason set up camp.
Award winning photographer, Brent Broza, grew up in Manhattan Beach surrounded by the Southern California beach community and culture. Surfing and skateboarding all over the famous South Bay with like-minded friends, Brent became very interested in art, sports and music at an early age. His passion of surfing and traveling have taken him all over the world.
Always a fan of photography and with parents that documented so much of his childhood through this medium, Brent was drawn to the art early in his life.
He started exploring film photography in 2004, but his passion deeply unfolded a few years down the road.
In 2008, Brent returned home to the South Bay from his then home in Maui to care for his father who had been diagnosed with terminal cancer.
While caring for his father, he came upon a camera of his that hadn’t been used due to his illness and he started shooting photos to create an artistic balance at a time of darkness.
What started as a creative emotional release grew into a passion that still has Broza constantly curious, always on an adventure and never without a camera.
As is the case with many artists, Brent ended up with a great deal of his subjects being heavily influenced by his earliest surroundings. Most of his photos involve landscapes, surf culture, musicians, artists and abstracts. In the past years, he has added painting and photo collage work to his art portfolio.
In 2016, Brent won the World Surf League’s “Biggest Paddle Award” by capturing the photo of Aaron Gold’s Guinness World Record wave of 63 feet at Jaws on Maui. The wave was documented as being the largest wave ever to be paddled into by a surfer.
In April of 2018, he won his second World Surf League “Biggest Paddle Award” with the same surfer, Aaron Gold on a 55 foot wave at Jaws, Maui.
His work has been featured by Surfer Magazine, Beyond The Streets, Juxtapoz, Hi Fructose, American Art Collector, CBS, Surfline, The Inertia, Jose Cuervo, Birdwell, Matix, Jack Johnson, Descendents, Pennywise, Blink 182, Shepard Fairey (Obey), Greg ‘Craola’ Simkins, The Seventh Letter, Known Gallery and many more.
Broza currently has a 12 photo mural installation at the newly renovated Manhattan Village Mall Plaza. He was also the featured artist at LA’s Fox Studios with a 6 month lobby installation in 2012.
With influences ranging from Ansel Adams to LeRoy Grannis, Broza continues to expand his subject matter, approach and process.
Brent’s work is featured in galleries, businesses and homes all over the world.
Brian Bent, is the ever-eclectic, self-taught artist, musician, surfer, hot rod enthusiast skateboarder (the list goes on). Whether through music, surfing, writing, painting, sculpting, car building, or whatever else sets his soul afire, Brian undoubtedly brings his electric energy to all he touches.
For Brian Bent, the past resonates in actionable ways. Bent builds and rides pre- WWII-style kook boxes. He builds primitive Hot Rods from scratch. He plays reverb- drenched garage rock that sends nods of recognition to the styling of The Cramps mashed with White Stripes. And his wardrobe is personally altered with punk rock aesthetics, through one of his many sewing machines, hand stitching and/or homemade screen prints.
Over the years, Bent–who cut his teeth creating playful, interactive and cutting edge interiors for Becker Surfboards.
He has developed his own idiosyncratic painting style. Working fastidiously and using bold, expressionist strokes, Bent’s paintings evoke an augmented reality that both soothes and evokes high levels of energetic joy. Bent’s work has been published many times over and has had much success in galleries and exhibits worldwide.
instead surrounding himself with skateboards, punk rock and the art that emerged from these countercultures. His passions shaped a career that has spanned decades, never straying far from those influences. At the end of the day, deSalvo still paints for the worlds that inspire him.
After completing his formal art education in San Francisco, deSalvo literally hit the pavement, snail mailing hand written notes and knocking on doors of record labels and skate companies. This grassroots approach landed him gigs with many of the bands that occupied his stereo and skateboard companies whose products he regularly rode. No project too small and no subject too crass, deSalvo’s work is classic, recognizable and timeless.
Still actively painting, these days Mark is also a dedicated father. He enjoys sharing his passions for art, music and skateboarding with his daughter, Bluma, and son, Wiley.
After surviving cancer as a child, Bob Dobbie aka Bob Dob was forced to give up his dream of becoming a pro baseball player and his interest gravitated towards music and art. Growing up in Hermosa Beach, CA and playing in the punk band “Lunacy” for ten years, his exposure to the music scene in Los Angeles had a great influence on his art.
While focusing on music theory at a local community college, Dob began taking drawing and painting classes. Eventually his interest in art took over and he transferred to Otis College of Art and Design in 1998 where he earned his Bachelor’s of Fine Arts Degree in illustration. His illustrated paintings featured Dob’s sardonic humor spotlighting pop culture icons, video game characters such as Mario/Luigi, beach culture stereotypes, historical references and Disney characters.
In 2004 Dob had his first gallery exhibition at La Luz De Jesus Gallery in Hollywood, CA. He has been a frequent participant in group and museum shows in the United States and Europe along with a dozen solo exhibitions. Professionally, his work has been featured worldwide in advertising campaigns by Kraft Foods, AFLAC, Intel and Hurley where Dob lent his most iconic characters to an artist series line of apparel.
His work has been collected by Ian McShane, Conan O’Brien, Nick Cassavetes, Rupert Grint, and Kate Flannery.

Chadwick Gaylord Smith was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a 25-year-member of groundbreaking, hit-making Red Hot Chili Peppers. An award-winning, multi-faceted drummer, Guinness World Record holder, six-time Grammy Winner, advocate for music in public schools, session musician, artist, serial philanthropist, and proud father of six, Chad Smith’s life is an epic journey that’s always moving.
In 2014 Smith received a presidential appointment by President Obama as a Turnaround Artist for public schools due to his work as a passionate advocate for music and arts education.
In April 2012, the Chili Peppers were inducted by Chris Rock into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, an honor that humbled Smith.
Clearly, Chad’s own public-school success story, generous time and inspiring life paved the way for his 2014 appointment as a Turnaround Artist under the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities. “I really want kids to pick up instruments so they can see how fun it is to play,” he relates. “It’s important to have technical proficiency—in anything, there’s practice and hard work, no shortcuts—but if you love it, you’re gonna wanna do it. I want them to see that after all these 40-ish years, I still love it, that’s why I still do it. It’s fun. It has taken me everywhere—and beyond.” He’s also devotes energy to non-profit organizations including, MusicCares, Silverlake Conservatory of Music, (Paul Newman)’s Serious Fun Network, and Children’s Hospitals.
Upon reflecting on his life, Smith can hardly believe his good fortune. “I work with people who want to grow; the Chili Peppers are open to new directions and as an artist, it’s the best creative situation to be in. It’s simple: I love what I’m doing and I’m really lucky. I got pretty good at the music thing,” he says humbly. “I play gigs in little bars and big stadiums, and everyone is rewarding”
Long Beach born and raised.
A true maximalist.
I’m a doer—always in motion, rarely standing still. Projects? I’m usually knee-deep in the next one before the last is done. I thrive in the creative chaos: resin, watercolor, collage, vintage window restoration, photography, woodworking, exploring new art classes —I love it all.
When I’m not creating, I’m juggling life as a mom of four amazing kids, wrangler of five dogs, real estate mogul, and managing the career of the one and only Josh Freese.

A singer, poet, songwriter, visual artist, activist, and composer; Serj Tankian has always created music and art as an outlet to express his thoughts and feelings with a level of passion and consciousness that few can rival. An Armenian born in Lebanon and re-rooted in Los Angeles, Serj was introduced to the melding of cultures, ideas and ideals from a very young age. The principles learned from this integration and adaptation have led to his understanding of the oneness of all things and have since maneuvered and transfigured into art that he lives to create.
He creates a uniquely audible and visual experience with his artworks. Each painting is accompanied by a musical score that has been composed by the artist that is as integral to his artistic expression as the paint on the canvas.
The embedded music along with additional content is unlocked and accessed via “Arloopa”, a free mobile application for IOS and Android devices that utilizes optical recognition technology to identify his works and allow those looking at his artwork to listen to each painting’s corresponding musical score. Tankian’s vision to utilize smartphone technology back in 2013 with his very own Eye For Sound app as the conduit to unlock the intertwined relationship of music and art was the first of its kind.
That was the same year his journey into the world of fine art began with his Disarming Time Musical Paintings at Project Gallery in Los Angeles. Since then, he has had multiple exhibitions at galleries in both the United States and New Zealand. In 2015, his artwork was exhibited at the grand opening of New Museum Los Gatos in Northern California as part of a group exhibit that ran from May through September of that year. Most recently, Serj’s artwork was exhibited in Los Angeles at Tufenkian Fine Arts in summer of 2021 and most recently at Stephanie’s Gallery in October of 2022. Across the Pacific in New Zealand, Tankian exhibited work February and March of 2019 at The Vivian and Boyd-Dunlop Gallery respectively. His most recent exhibits in New Zealand were in Auckland and Wellington in February of ’23 at Suite Gallery locations in both cities.

He spends most of his time operating his skateshop Sixes & Sevens, where he continues to draw every day when he’s not putting together skateboards.
